1968 saw the last steam locomotives withdrawn by British Railways. As if to underline the great changes happening on our railways the green late crest livery shared by both steam and diesel locos gave way to the then new British Railways blue livery.
We have grouped together blue diesel locomotives and DMUs from both Bachmann Branchlines and Hornby. Whilst the shade of Blue is the same, Era 6 1967-1971 is known as pre-TOPS, and era 7 1971-1982 as the TOPS era. The principal difference between the two blue eras is the loco numbering system used.
We normally have all available locos in stock for Eras 3 to 7 to cover the period from the grouping of the Big Four in 1923 right through to the end of the British Railways Blue TOPS era in 1982.
